Dynasty Makes Move up Power Rankings

2023 MVP Dynasty
After finishing 4-2 and as Silver Division runner-ups this past weekend in the Dru Joyce Shooting Stars Classic, and going 5-0 with a championship at the Springboro Classic last weekend, Coach Aaron Perry’s 2023 MVP Dynasty team has moved up in our Buckeye Prep Power Rankings. Last weekend, the Dayton-based MVP Dynasty got by the Philly Hurricanes (48-27), Ck2 Elite (43-34), Caron Butler Elite (49-40), and Ohio Hoopsters Team Dos (55-48).  Dynasty’s losses were to the Ft. Wayne Young Kings (31-34) and to the Dayton Swish (26-31) in championship game. Last weekend’s championship went through Blue Collar, Dayton Metro. Ohio Stars, Dayton Airmen, and the Cougars. Congratulations to MVP Dynasty’s players, coaches and parents.

    1. Yes they did lose twice to the same team and came in 2nd place. But the Wolves have played in top tournaments like the Nike grass roots where they made it final 4 in Gold bracket and Berecat classic where they made it to Final 4 and have an overall record of like 25 and 6 while playing top teams from across the region. With that being said, the team that beat the Wolves is a really good team.

    2. Who did they lose to? What teams were in that tournament?

  2. Love the blog.

Figured I would point out a possible oversight from the 5th grade rankings.

There is a team called TAD based out of Central Ohio. They have beaten 5 of the Top 12 teams on your list. In fact just this past weekend they beat All Ohio Blue (2nd in rankings) and All Ohio Black (10th in rankings) at King James.

I am not affiliated with TAD. I am the coach of a different 5th grade AAU team, I just figured I would let you know. TAD is a really good team that I feel belongs on your power rankings.

    1. The Rebels out of Cleveland. They beat Ohio Varsity shooting stars 67-52. Competitive game that got away from Ohio Varsity late in the 2nd half. The Rebels shot lights out from the 3 and were big, physical, and ran there system well. Ohio Varsity was in a dogfight in the semis facing U play Canada out of Ontario. Huge team which had a 6'9 kid and two 6'7 kids and they also shot the 3ball well but Ohio Varsity was able to hold on in what can be argued as probably the best game Sunday in an high scoring 83-82 thriller. Much respect to the Rebels out of Cleveland but highly impressed with the Ohio Varsity (white) 9th grade team

  4. I would love to talk to the coach! As I have pointed out on several occasions, much of the rankings are "information driven!" I need coaches and parents to send in tournament results so they can be factored into the updates. 614-203-2929 or taylorobe@aol.com.
