Warriors Gain National Recognition

2024 Marshall Warriors
Recently, Coach Malcolm Walter’s 2024 East Cleveland based Marshall Warriors squad gained national attention when they were ranked #14 in the country by usbahoops.com. We already knew the Warriors were very talented, but now, the rest of the country has figured it out.  Over the course of the 2018 season, the Warriors claimed multiple titles and top 4 finishes.  Walters is no stranger to success, as he coached the 2020 King James team that won multiple tournaments with multiple D-I caliber players.  Some of the Warriors’ top players include CJ Little, Brian Sullivan, Hosea Steele, Jessie McCullum and Kai White.  Congrats to Coach Walters and his players for a great season!  It should also be noted that the North Coast Blue Chips (#2) and the Cincinnati Royals (#18) were also listed in the rankings, Finally, you can catch the above players at our September 8th & 9th Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase!

Buckeye Prep 2023 All-Star Game Rosters Released

Below is a link to the 2018 Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase Saturday 2023 all-star game rosters.  Once again, we have been able to attract not only the top 8th graders in Ohio for the Ohio North vs South game, but many of Michigan’s top players will be participating in the Ohio vs Michigan game as well.

We hope to get our first look at Rayvon Griffith, who many feel may be the top 2023 player in the state.  We also have commitments from guys like Marlon Barnes, Jayvion Moore, Gabe Cupps, LA Hayes, Desh Molton, Kellon Smith, Chandler Starks, Bedi Lori, Dre’sean Roberts, Tyrin Sturdivant and Jyles Brandon.  The two 2023 games should be very competitive, as the top players in the state have committed to the event.  Rosters could change a bit if players fail to meet the registration deadline, so stay tuned.

Elite Showcase All-Star Game Rosters Released

As is custom for the fall edition of the Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase (September 8th& 9th), day one of the event will include a slate of 7 intra and interstate all-star games scheduled to tip off Saturday morning at 8:00 am.  Once again, we have been able to secure commitments from the top players in each of the respective classes in the region.  New this year is the Inaugural 3-State Challenge, which will feature round robin play between 2022 all-star teams from Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. These games will be highly competitive, as most of Buckeye Prep’s top 20 players have committed.  Throw in the top 10 players from Michigan and Kentucky and the competition level becomes significant!

Over the next several days we will be releasing the rosters for these all-star games, starting with the class of 2022 (9thgrade).  The rosters below contain the names of the players who have committed to both the all-star games and the elite showcase.  In order to lock in spots, each player listed on a roster MUST register by Monday of next week.  After the deadline, we will start adding names from our alternate list.

In addition to the competition, media outlets from all 3 states will be in the house covering the event.  After the all-star game have concluded, we will transition into the showcase portion of the event and all of the players from the all-star games will be divided up and placed on teams along with everybody else who has registered for the showcase.  These games will also be very competitive, and will culminate in final all-star games on Sunday afternoon for the top 3-4 players from each showcase team.

The 2022 games will feature guys like Chris Livingston, Paul McMillan IV, Josiah Harris, Sincere Harris, Elmore James IV, Sean Jones, Khalil Luster and Raymar Pryor, all of who are ranked among our top 10, and are all DI prospects.  Never has Ohio's top 20 players been together on the same court at the same time! This event will serve as a spring board for the player's high school career and will give high school centered media outlets their first real look at the fresman class. Registration is still open and we invite anyone who wants to compete at a high level against the best players the state has to offer.  Stay tuned over the next several days as we solidify on post rosters for the other classes.  This event is going to be HOT!

Young Makes Noise at National Event

Danny Young, Jr. 6'0" PG 2022 Shaker Heights
From what we understand, Danny Young, Jr. (6’0”/PG/2022/Shaker Heights) performed well at the invitation-only CP3 Camp last weekend and caught the attention of several talent evaluators. Heres what Rodger Bohn had to say about Young: 6'0 2022 PG Danny Young Jr. From Shaker Heights HS (OH)/ OBC has been impressive in drill play. Nice burst, knows how to pick his spots, and clearly has the IQ of a coach's son.”

Of course we’ve seen Young in action for a number of years and are well aware of his skill set and basketball IQ.  The son of a high school coach, Young is a floor general who understands the game, and can not only make plays for teammates, but can get his own offense as well.  Not only is Young ranked among the best in the class in our rankings, he has been extended an invitation to participate in the prestigious Buckeye Prep Ohio North vs South All-Star Games in September.  Also making noise at the CP3 event was Chirs Livingston (6'4"/WF/2022/Akron) who has been collecting high major offers since the summer.  Livingston has also committed to participate in the Ohio North vs South game and 3-State Challenge at the Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase. Congrats to Young and Livingston for highlighting Ohio Basketball.

Parents/Coaches,

We are now just about 4 weeks away from the fall session of Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase and I’m currently putting the finishing touches on the event format and schedule. As a reminder, the event is scheduled for September 8th& 9that Otterbein University located at 160 Center St. Westerville, Ohio 43081. On that Saturday, registration will open by 7:30am and will run through about 3:30pm. After the boy’s all-star games have concluded, we will have opening remarks and the showcase games are scheduled to begin around 4:00pm (tentative).

I plan to have an initial draft of the rosters, team assignments and schedule posted on our website (www.buckeyeprep.blogspot.com) at least 1 week prior to the event.  The only names that will appear on the rosters will be those players who have registered and paid. Although I will be posting a tentative participant list on the website, that list is not official, so if your child’s name is listed there but you have not registered or paid the fee, they will not have a spot in the event.

Finally, I’m always in need of coaches for these events if you’re interested on know someone who may be interested please let me know.  In addition to the satisfaction of working with young people, coaches receive free admission to the event ($20 value), a t-shirt and access to the media/coaches lounge where they can relax and enjoy complimentary food and drink the entire 2 days. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at buckeyeprep@yahoo.comor 614-203-2929 for an invitation.  Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Rob Taylor
