| Lawrent Rice & LA Hayes-2023 MVPs |
The first in
a series of all-star games tipped off at the Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase today
at Otterbein University in Columbus, Ohio.
First up was the Ohio North vs South game featuring the top 8th
graders in the state. The South squad
grabbed early bragging rights with a 50-42 win over the North. The South was led by the dynamic play of Dayton’s
Lawrent Rice who dropped a game-high
13 points and 2 dimes on his way to co-MVP honors. Rice was active early, pushed the tempo and
got quality baskets for his efforts. For the North, Cleveland’s LA Hayes earned
MVP honors as well with a team-high 6 points and 1 assist. Defensively, Hayes forced 2 early turnovers
to compliment his scoring efforts. Next
up is the 2026 game with most of the top 5th graders in the state in
the gym!
