Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase Features Young Talent

On Sunday, approximately 300 elite players in grades 6th-12th participated in the spring session of the Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase held at Central Crossing High School in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to the skills and drill stations in the morning, the players and their parents were treated to an informative presentation by Jeremy McCool, Associate Director of High School Review with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Because many of the region’s top high school guys were still participating in the state tournament with their high school teams, the showcase talent was heavily weighted in the middle school divisions.  With that said, there were a number of quality players in the Varsity division, which featured players in grades 9-12th.

Below are links to showcase rankings in each of 4 divisions, in addition to the lists of players who played their way into all-star games.

    1. Hopefully Rob basis his rankings on more than what these "coaches" do at this event.

  4. Okay people don't put anything in to these rankings. Rob Taylor does a fabulous job putting this showcase on but many of the coaches he relies on to make these decisions have hidden agendas. Some are trying to get the kids in their programs recognition, many of the coaches are parents of the kids that participate in the event, and don't think they don't work every angle so their kid gets more recognition than they deserve. Take all of these showcases with a grain of salt, everyone knows the Varsity division was very weak and the top 5 in each division were not correct. If you go and watch the dynamics of some of the coaches when you first arrive you will see that this post is true. Disappointed in many of the coaches but Rob still puts on a fabulous event!!!!!!!!!

  6. Rob was looking for guys to coach on Sunday morning. For those who think it is easy coaching and picking the top kids, step up and coach next time.

  9. Does anyone know the significance of names listed in red vs black? I thought maybe it was players that won one of the awards (hustle/defense etc.) but it doesnt look like its that either...

    1. No, if that were true is would be 10 red and 10 black in each grade - the numbers aren't even

  14. David "DJ" Dial, not only did well this past weekend at Buckeye Prep; with a triple double the first game, that he only played for 8 mins. He was nominated by his teacher, for a four year scholarship program at Ohio State University, because he's holding down a 4.28 G.P.A. in all Honors classes. Not to mention his little brother, Ja'len" Baby King" Dial. Made it to the 6th grade all-star game as well, his first time attending. He is only 10 years old, 5'3" and was jumping up getting rebounds over the big men. Ja'len has a 3.5, G.P.A. as well. I'm proud of the student/ athelete's that you are. Congrats sons! (Your Moms).

  16. You only send your guys to these showcases to gets better. 9 times out of 10 your kids will have the opportunity to face off against these other top ranked kids during their regular season. A lot of guys will get overlooked due to weak aau programs but that comes with the game ladies and gents. This showcase is not the only way your kid will be scouted. I can think of several D1 kids that have not attended this event. A lot of kids listed are overrated but some of them are jewels no doubt about it! Just tell your kids to work hard and someone will notice. Next try to find more competitive aau programs and compete in more official "aau" tournaments that actually have scouts attending. That's just a start...

  17. A listen if yo name in that bold print u the truth if u from the Midwest it is the best way to get rank thats why u see people from Chicago Indiana a few from Detroit at Buckeye prep cause there no way that u go see the people from far south or east that are great players to .So what I'm saying if u from the Midwest yes it is the best way to get ranked cause scouts do no about trust me especially top ten and elite 5 for sure your names are wrote down and bloged.Remember we big ten so it means a lot.

  19. the reason why the varsity division was weak is because guys like Aj Harris, Lamonta Stone, Jordan Dartist, Kipper Nicholas, Ahmad Wagner,Luke Kennard, Andre Foster,Chris Landrum, and D'Mtrik Trice. Guys like them havent been there in awhile. Those are just some of the top players i remember in the class of 2015 which is one of the best classes in the state of Ohio.

  20. The primary reason the Varsity division was down was because of the timing of the showcase and the fact that most of the top players were still playing with their high school teams. The September showcase is always the biggest and most competitive. Trust me, they will be back in September!!
