2012 Buckeye Prep All-State Teams (2018)

Below is a link to my 2012 Buckeye Prep All-State Teams for the class of 2018.  As was the case with the 2016 and 2017 lists, the names appearing on the list represent the most consistent performers this past summer.  The list is not meant to be "rankings" per se, but rather a snapshot of performance. It's important to note that I spoke with several people who know the kids in this class before publishing the list. Also, because several kids were very close in terms of performance and talent, I was forced to make a couple of close calls on the various teams, but that's the nature of the beast. No disrespect was intended, so if a kid was missed or underrepresented, they should use that as motivation to keep working on their game. Because many of the players listed will be participating in the upcoming Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase, we all will be able to see the players compete head-to-head, and maybe then, we can better determine who the better kids are. Finally, please feel free to post your comments (nothing crazy) about the list.  Enjoy!

  1. My son has played against Sincere Carry several times and he is the best point guard I have seen in the state. Unselfish, skilled and very court savvy. He makes everyone around him better. Congrats Sincere! Well deserved recognition.

    2. He play for SMAC. Real good. They beat us easy and the boy dominated. I also love Allaco from Exel that's the only other team that got us pretty good and he run the show nice. Another real good point guard but didn't see him listed.

  5. We got to see so many very talented kids at Nationals this year and we are looking forward to watching them grow and get even better. Ohio sent a great bunch of teams and they all did very well.

    2. You may recognize him by the name of EJ. He played for Cincinnati Spark and Ohio Tarhills last season. I recently watched him play with Freshmans; he was able to hold his own and be the top scorer. There is a bright future for this kid if he keeps progressing.

  8. Derrick Veasley Jr had great scoring games against Murphy Ac and I saw him pretty much single handedly beat Kingjames in the Lake Erie AAu Championship, have you seen him play or have you followed any of his games?

  10. Gene has that motor that coaches love and more important a honor student and a great kid. I think he should have made first or second team. That being said my mother always told me cream rises to the top he will have a chip on his shoulder at the showcase.. My pick for showcase MVP Dwayne Cohill he is finally healthy.

  11. Funny thing is , coaching starts to come in to play next year!!!! Can't press and trap all game. That's when the real players show up.

  12. Why is Juan Elmore on the second team he play better than EJ Williams

    1. both are good. Im guessing EJ size (upside) is higher. he may end up 7' tall.

    2. An even funnier thing is coaches only press and trap when they know they can get it off. Sounds like your team found themselves on the other end of some heat! Lol get better!

    3. They are just kids at this point, who if are legitimately 12 years old, have not gone through puberty yet. It is just an opinion list, not a statement on who is going to what college. Clearly if both of them made the list, then they both have talent. You would think that everyone would be happy that there is a report such as this that allows for boys to receive early exposure. Good luck to both EJ and Juan and I hope they both progress as they continue to develop.

  13. Aau 6 grade power rankings are out Murphy AC is ranked 15 th in the nation behind 14 Texas celtics and 13 MD sports scholars Murphy beat both teams in championship round. Lol

  14. EJ is big and very talented but I think that his lack of mobility will be a major obstacle in his career as he matures. He is, and will continue to be, a big liability for his team when opposing teams run against him. I've seen most of these bigs play and I think Elmore, Cravaack and Speelman are better all around players. Hopefully, they all continue to develop their games and take them to the next level.

    1. Anyone who was at the showcase can clearly account that EJ Williams mobility may have been an issue of the past but not of present. He was rejecting everything in the paint as well as scoring with ease. Agree that he will need to continue to work on mobility but at 6'7 and 285lbs, we are not comparing apples to apples. Elmore, Cravaack and Speelman can not score against him. Agreement that all are players to watch in the future.
