Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase-High School Recap

Chris Scott, Darrius Davis, Carl Banks, Jared Baldock & Jared McCorkle

The high school division of the Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase was loaded with talent. Included with all that talent were a few players who separated themselves from the pack. Chris Scott (6’3/WF/2020/Huber Heights) was a monster the entire day.  He’s an explosive athlete who plays well above the rim.  On Saturday, Scott had his way with would be defenders, while also putting on a one-man dunk contest.  Scott was relentless to the rim were he finished at a high rate.  Scott put up big numbers including scores of 22, 23, 21 and 10 points (missed first game).  For his efforts, Scott got the all-star game nod, then proceeded to grab Top 5 honors.  

In terms of standout performances, Austin Allison (6’3/SG/2020/Baltimore) deserves some attention. Allison has good length, is highly skilled and can score from beyond the arc and at the rim.   Allison has played on the biggest stages in the country, so his performance on Saturday was not surprising to us.  In one game on Saturday, Allison put it all together to the tune of 24 points.  Allison will be moving to central Ohio in a few weeks and will be a big time addition to some lucky program.  Josiah Shamsideen (5’9/PG/2022/Lansing, MI) caught our eye again. Shamisdeen is productive on both ends of the court and combines 3-point capabilities with solid defense.  A review of the scorebooks reflects Shamisdeen can really score the rock. Case in point, Shamisdeen averaged double digit scoring, including a high of 22 points.  A good looking prospect going forward

Speaking about freak athletes, we were also really impressed with Darrius Davis (6’2/PG/2020/Pittsburg, PA).  Davis is a physical specimen who is strong and athletic.  Davis is a powerful guard who is physical and aggressive to the bucket.  Davis is a big time scorer and dropped a gaudy 26 points in one game. In addition, Davis exploded for 24 points in the all-star game on his way to Top 5 honors.  Because Davis is only 14, his upside potential is significant. Also having a big day was Carl Banks, who was a good shooter, got to the rack with ease and showed good court vision and a high IQ.  Banks also made the all-star game and won a Top 5 Award.  Jared McCorkle (CG/2020/Cincinnati) also logged in an impressive a performance, averaging double digits the entire day.  After he punched his ticket to the all-star game, McCorkle finished up a good day with Top 5 honors. McCorkle is a consistent standout, as we've seen him play well in several of our events.  We did not see a lot of him, but Jared Baldock balled out on Saturday and was rewarded with an all-star nod and a Top 5 Award.  We also know that Baldock exploded with 20 points in the all-star game.

Other standouts in the high school division included Isaiah Kennedy, Marcus Skeete, Shaathon Walker, Evan Lakins, Josiah Bunton, Chesimon Moore, Collin Hedgpeth, Peter Brooks, John Garza Jr., Jeremy Allen, Lenny Feckner, Caleb Wallis and Lucas Frankhauser.  It’s important to note that all of the above players made all-star teams.  Stay tuned for additional recaps.
