Session 2 of the Midwest Circuit tipped off in Toledo last weekend, where two of the state’s top 8thgrade teams would eventually take their first L. Both the Ohio Basketball Club (OBC) and TNBA Ohio Shooting Stars entered the weekend undefeated and knowing that the scheduled matchup between the two of them could impact our Power Rankings. After getting by Wisconsin Rise (45-35) in the opening game, Coach Danny Young’s squad would face off against their Northern Ohio nemesis, the TNBA Ohio Shooting Stars. By the time the dust had settled, OBC had grabbed bragging rights, while unseating Coach Ed Heban’s team for the #2 spot in the state with a 59-48 victory. OBC would later run their session record to 3-0 with a 56-29 win over G3 Grind, before running into the top team on the circuit in Michigan’s DV45. OBC would suffer their first blemish with the 52-45 loss. OBC enjoyed great play out of Danny Young Jr., Elmore James, Aiden Lai, Antwan Woolfolk, Jordan Huff, Tyler Ganley and Willis Sterwart.
TNBA’s weekend was a mixed bag after back-to-back losses to Manimal Elite 2022 (38-49) and OBC. The Shootings Stars later regained their footing with a big time win (70-52) over the powerhouse Indiana Elite 2022, followed by a 70-65 victory over Illinois Speed. So far, TNBA’s overall record is 6-2 and OBC is 7-1 in Circuit play.
In terms of the other Ohio teams, Nova Village finished 2-2 on the weekend with wins over Starz United (72-33) and G3 Grind (60-54), and losses against Wisconsin United 8th(67-43) and DV45 (65-46). Unfortunately for C2K Elite, the competition did not get any easier in their home state, as they suffered another 0-4 record against Indiana Elite (61-28), Louisville magic (63-27), Manimal Elite (52-44) and Michigan Mustangs (58-55).
In the 6thgrade division, Nova Village-Rice went 3-1 with wins over the Ohio Kings (66-65), R4L (59-34), and Great lake Warriorz (45-43). Nova’s lone loss came at the hands of Ohio’s TAD (46-43). The Ohio Kings knocked off a pair of Ohio teams in OBC (45-21), Ohio Dose (55-54) before loosing to ITPS Pittsburgh 2024 (47-43) to go 2-2 in Toledo. TAD also went 2-2 with wins over Nova Village Rice (46-43) and Memphis Grind (74-35). TAD was upended by Ohio Dose (42-39) and MWA Elite 2024 (49-40). OBC finished 1-3 with their lone win against Indy Hoops (45-42). The R4L Pioneers had another tough weekend finishing 0-4 and 1-7 over 2 sessions.
Ohio Dose (2025) is an impressive 7-1 after 2 sessions and notched another 4 wins last weekend. Their wins were over Ohio Kings (43-33), OBC 2025 (46-15), Illinois Speed (52-24) and D. Rice Elite (62-32). The R4L Pioneers went 2-2 with wins over Miller Factory 2025 (60-43) and the Kentucky Kings (55-46). Their losses were to Manimal Elite (63-48) and Lansing Quest (55-26). Miller Factory’s overall record stands at 4-4 after a 2-2 finish in Toledo. The Ohio King’s 1-3 weekend runs their overall record to 3-5 and OBC stands at 1-7 overall after a 1-3 weekend.
The 2026 Ohio Juice leads all Ohio based teams with an overall 5-3 record. Last weekend they went undefeated with wins over R4L Pioneers (43-30), Ohio Hoopsters (41-31), Flame Elite (43-34) and Ohio C2K (38-15). The R4L Pioneers are 4-4; Ohio C2K Elite is 3-5; the Ohio Kings are 3-5 and the Ohio Hoopsters are 1-7. Look for many of the above teams to faceoff again at the Buckeye Prep Invitational this weekend in Columbus.
