8th Grade Lima Spartans 15-0 |
After a 51-37
comeback win over powerhouse Findley Glenwood Middle School in front of a packed house on Wednesday night,
Coach Marcus Addy’s 8th grade Lima Spartans team is the clear
favorite to win the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) conference
championship. To get their second win
over Findley team that had not lost in 3 years, the 15-0 Spartans had to
overcome an early 12-point deficit. In
fact, Lima did not take their first lead until the 3rd quarter. As the lead guard, Khalil Luster controlled
the game and added double digit scoring, while Cecil Benton Jr. ignited a scoring
barrage that eventually led to the Spartan comeback.
The Spartan’s
roster is absolutely loaded with talent and includes studs like Khalil Luster (5’4”/PG/2022), Cecil Benton Jr. (5’8”/WF/2022), Cameron Miles (6’1”/WF/2022) and Quintell Wilson Jr. (5’5”/SG/2022), all
of whom have logged in all-star caliber performances at our Buckeye Prep Elite
Showcases for years and are all ranked among the top players in the state. In the summer, Luster and Miles run with Paul
McMillan’s powerful All-Ohio Red squad, while Benton and Wilson run with
Quintell Wilson’s scrappy Lima Gators team.
Both teams enjoyed tremendous success this past AAU season.
If you can’t make it to a playoff game, you can catch the above players in action at our March 10th
Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase. Good luck to the Spartans as they attempt to mount
a deep playoffs run.
