When Danny
Young’s 2022 Ohio Basketball Club team hits the court this season they will do
so with a couple of key pieces. Joining OBC’s roster will be Elmore James IV (6’1/WF/South Euclid), Aden Saunders (6’1/WF/Mars, PA) and Bryce Cunningham (6’1/WF/Mars, PA).
Young’s All-Ohio Northeast squad from last season was already stacked, so with the
edition of 3 new studs Young’s team should be a tough out.
We have
featured James recently and have him ranked among the top 10-15 players in the
state, so we know the impact he can make on a team. Saunders and Cunningham both played for the
Caveman AAU organization last season and according to Young “…will bring physicality, toughness
and that extra size,” Young did not have last season. "We were a bunch of little guards last year," Young said.
The rest of
OBC’s roster includes: Danny Yong Jr. (5’8/CG/Shaker Heights), Deon Horn
(5’9/SG/Woodridge), Jordan Huff (5’9/WF/Strongsville), Jonah Dieterie
(6’2/WF/Solon), Trey Martin (5’7/SG/Green), Preston Taylor (5’6/SG/Copley) and
Nolan Williams (5’7/SG/Revere). We had
Young’s team solidly in the top 10 of our Power Rankings last season but the new roster upgrades suggest that top 5 is reasonable when we release our initial
team rankings in late March.
“We have a
chance to work hard and be special. I would consider us one of the top 1-3
teams in the state,” said Young. Young is also pleased to be joining Mike
Duncan’s Ohio Basketball Club organization this season. “I’ve been friends with Mike for a long time. I respect what he’s done; it’s a great opportunity
to join a quality program,” continued Young.
You can catch OBC in action at the Buckeye Prep Invitational Tournament
March 31st-April 2nd.
