NYBL Session III All-Session Teams

Zeb Graham Jr, Jordan Toles & Jalen Blackmon-MVPs
With the tip off of the NYBL Finals set this weekend in Columbus, OH, the NYBL has released their official list of Session III All-Session Teams.  As was the case in the previous 2 sessions, in each of the 3 divisions, 4 teams and an Honorable Mention list were developed.  In addition to the All-Session Teams, MVPs were chosen in each division. Each of the 3 MVPs put up gaudy numbers in Pigeon Forge, TN. Team Charlotte's Zeb Graham Jr. dropped over 20 points (24.6 average) in each of the 5 games he played (27, 28, 20, 24 & 24). Team Melo's Jordan Toles was a monster in session III, scoring over 30 point in 2 games with 2 additional 20 point plus games. Team Teague's Jalen Blackmon was outstanding in the third session with two 20 point games and a 19.5 scoring average after 5 games.

Other standouts included Jack Pugh (2020 Mid-Ohio Pumas), Jamal Edmonson (2019 Team Loaded), Chris Ford (2021 CBC Elite) and Ellison Mason (2019 Atlanta Xpress). He did not put up big numbers, but Team Florida's Chol Marial (7'2/C/South Sudan/2019) was a force defensively. Extremely long and athletic, Marial's NYBL debut had the gym buzzing with his above the rim play. Not only are the All-Session Teams lists designed to provide added exposure to standout performers from each session, these lists will also be used in the NYBL All-Star Game selection process.  The league will be holding the NYBL All-Star Weekend at Otterbein University in Columbus, OH. the weekend of September 12th and 13th.  Congratulations to all of the players selected to these prestigious lists!

Puma team goes 5-0 for the weekend and double-up Team Melo & Toles - holding them to 25pts. Toles played in this game - how is he MVP?

    1. Probably because the Puma team is SOOOOO old.... lol

  2. MVP is an individual honor. I think his numbers, as outlined in the story, justify the selection!

  3. If you won then why do you care? Are you for the team??? Or Jack Pugh??

  4. Did Chris Mayfield really play in the 2021 division?

    1. in case anyone is confused, he fixed the post that document that had the wrong name in it. and there are a number of pictures posted on facebook of the Pumas, so there shouldn't be any confusion about which division Chris Mayfield plays. These posts can and should be deleted without any problem :-)

  5. Not for either! MVP usually goes to a player on a team that as won. If the Toles kid had 4 other great games and those performances "erase" being dominated in the losing game... then so be it. Congratulation is warranted. And the explanation of why - accepted. Carry-on.

  6. Chris Mayfield is the Puma player who guarded Toles in Team Melos 25 pt loss. So Chris played in at least one 2020 game not sure about the other 4. Doubt he played with the 2021 team Must be a clerical error.

  7. Chris mayfield is 2020 just an error

  8. Why do you take messages down Rob? That's bull!!

  9. I've not taken any messages down from this thread. With that said, I generally leave messages up as long as I can before the conversations simply turn to ugly and negative toward players, people or organizations. This site/forum is not designed/intended to serve as a platform for anger, hate, jealousy, slander, and unfounded accusations! If a person wants to send me a message, even if it's critical, they can send me an email. I don't write negative stuff about players, parents, coaches, fans or organizations on this site and I'm not going to allow anybody else to do the same! I'm about the providing a positive platform for these players to gain exposure as well and short and long term opportunities. Some people are simply mean spirited, nasty, and hateful with little positive feedback for anybody. Just look at the nature and tone of just the few posts since I posted a story/list meant to highlight the success of young people who deserve to be recognized for their hard work. This site is not the place for that and I sleep well a night keeping the garbage at bay for at least a little while. AAU/grassroots basketball is getting more rotten every year and many people like myself are quickly losing our passion for the game because of the adults who are ruining the game and experiences for these kids. Everybody wants to fight each other and tear down the next man. Sometimes I can hardly bare to go into the gym because I know what I'm about to encounter. Do this for me, as you watch games this weekend in the NYBL Finals or any tournament, take a few minutes to look around and just observe the nastiness of what's going on in the gym. If what you observe doesn't saddened or disgust you then something's wrong! Sorry for this tirade, but every now and then I need to say what's on my mind. I usually regret it, but I do it anyway; it’s therapeutic! You don't have to agree with me, but there, I said it. With all of that said, I am still excited to see the players play hard and compete at the highest levels this weekend, regardless of the antics on the sidelines and in the stands!!! I suspect I will be deleting posts in “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” Lol!!

  10. Well I put up a post congratulating some Team Charlotte players, and it's gone!!

    1. I saw that post, but have know idea why it's no longer here. Try re-posting it again. No earthly reason why I would intentionally take a post like that down and leave the negative stuff up. Some other people have asked me about similar situations, but I can't explain it. You will simply have to take my word for it. Heck, I wrote an entire story on team Charlotte several weeks ago; no need to snub them now. With a conspiracy theory around every corner, there is always doubt with just about everything!

    2. Isn't the kid from Team Charlotte named Zeb Graham not Jackson? This article says Zeb Jackson.

  14. Great post Rob! These parents are the worst! Half of them never played and the other half just like to be seen. Parents how are going to act when your kid goes to high school or college? Your kid will be overlooked because of you. Come to games STFU and act like you have some sense. Side line coaches as well. Rob thanks for giving these kids some love.

  15. I've watched Team Charlotte and I've been impressed with how their coach gets them most of out his players. Not sure who he is but they are very well coached. Same with Bmore Finest 2019 I really like the toughness as well. UA should be proud of these programs. I'm sure Team Florida will win it all 7'3 and 6'11 will be too much.

  17. Exactly Rob. Your comment describes my exact feelings on AAU ball. Same thing I was trying to explain to you the other day. I enjoy watching ALL these kids play. I love reading up on them and following their progress. Jordan Toles is my guy. Great kid. Great family and a good friend/former teammate of my son. Jack is the man. Chris Mayfield is a bull. Why can't we just be proud of the kids getting positive notification for the game they love? They are babies! I get more and more turned off by the negativity. Keep doing what your doing brotha. Some people out here think you're doing a great thing by getting these boys National recognition! Good luck to all the boys playing this weekend

  18. Good evening Mr. Taylor,

I am writing because I was informed that the team had been disqualified for adding another player. If the rules have been broken then of course something should be done. EBA was what 3-11 for the league? You have kids that are 14 or older claiming to be in the 6th grade but you disqualified a team for adding and additional 12 year old. Zion Harmon had switched teams and classes. Please explain how you have chosen to pick on one of the worst teams in the league and over look all the other rules that are being broken by other teams. Everyone should be held to the same standard and accountability that you have held EBA to this weekend. I'm in just disbelief that this has even happen. Your organization overlooks ages, grades levels, and more to allow powerhouse basketball clubs to continue to come. How many 6th graders in your time have you seen dunking? Please just let me understand your logic with this ruling.

  21. WCA had a long plane ride home!! Lesson learned to all young athletes...keep your mouth shut and just play, cause when you start talkin, your play level goes down and guess what...BOOM!!!

  22. Mr. Taylor I think the NYBL is wonderful but to better recognize players on different teams throughout the tournament it would benefit you to assign one individual to cover each age group so not just headline players get exposure. Their are some good players on other teams that you give no recognition to. I now its hard for you to cover every team by you make enough money to hire 3 people to do this. LoL!!!!!!!

  23. agree with above comment on Pumas. They beat us in OT in TN and beat us again in Columbus. Both times the red headed guard was a beast. not afraid of damn thing. love his game all the way around. nice team for real

  26. I don't know if it's my computer or not, but i can't read all the kids' names on the 3 pages when I click on the link above? Can you provide a list that's viewable Mr. Taylor?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mr. Taylor please revisit your NYBL posts for session 1 and session 2. There were kids who got top players in the 2021 post but didn't make the All Team list which makes no sense. I see overlooking a kid in the All star selection once, but again in session 2 seems almost like a conspiracy. Because it was my child who I won't mention at this point because it is water over the bridge, it was hard for him to swallow that he could get kudos as having played well in both sessions, but not make the all team selection. For him to state to me as a true 6th grader that politics clearly come into play in exposure events of this nature saddens me because it shouldn't be the case. Having met you before, you seem to be a nice, fair and objective man so I'm sure there are some oversights that you are not aware of but please take time to look at your post for sessions 1 and 2 for this age group and possibly add the players to your NYBL All Star weekend invite list since they were slighted for all team selections. I'm sure my son will appreciate the nod as he has gotten recognition for a number of events this past year and the NYBL recognition would've been icing on the cake.

  28. I wonder why I can't seem to find the mid Ohio pumas on the national tournament 13u schedule.
I wonder is it because they have too many players that should be playing 14u

  31. I agree. I just don't get the silly and petty jealousy and just hate. It is really pathetic. This time it's the Pumas getting it. Why? They do things right. Have good, hard working kids that play well together. Good coaching. Always respectful to opponents win or lose.
