OBC Solan Cage Classic Champions |
Ohio
Basketball Club’s 8th grade squad finished 7-0 on their trek to the
championship of the Solon Cage Classic. In route to the title, OBC took down
Next Level (64-25), Cavemen (78-74), Pittsburgh Storm (66-56), and King James
(46-53) in the championship game. Dwayne
Cohill Jr. was named the tournament’s MVP. In the 7th grade
division, the Ohio Hoopsters Warriors defeated GPU Steelrivers 58-48 to claim
the title. The Mansfield Cavs-White defeated OBC Adidas Elite 66-57 to take the
6th grade championship. In
the 5th grade division, Team Adidas got by Hard Work Basketball
43-31 in the championship game.
In the 7th
grade division of the Bearcat Classic in Cincinnati last weekend, SMAC Showtime
downed SWO Elite (62-48) in the championship game to take home the gold. The
game was a revenge game of sorts, as SWO Elite defeated SMAC at the Buckeye
Prep Invitational 1 week earlier.
In addition
to the above-mentioned tournaments, several of Ohio’s top 8th grade
squads participated in Lee Brones’ 2014 Gator Romp in the Swamp tournament in Louisville,
Kentucky. This invite only tournament
featured some of the top ranked 8th grades teams in the country,
including Team Penny, Kentucky Gators, Georgia United Elite and Team Ramey. The
Shinning Stars, Ohio Hoopsters and Buckeye Prep represented the Buckeye State
in this prestigious tournament, and although none of the Ohio based teams took
home the gold, they more than competed and they all represented the state well.
There were some really good teams down in Louisville for the Gator Romp Tourney. Hoopsters played great and at least Buckeye Prep and Shining Stars made it to the final in Silver Bracket with Shining Stars coming out on top - not bad Ohio
