  5. I would imagine there will be multiple courts, as Garfield Heights has several courts that can be used.

  7. I don't understand why X Simpson still gets so much praise in our state and nationally when Keith Griffin ate him in that aau game, then dude doesn't even get the props he well deserves. Now most of us all know the Tillman kid is just as great.Tillman would do the same to X,but with Tillman's style of play he'd probably embarrass X,no offense I've seen X play time and time again and theres no doubt he's got alot of game, but show the Cleveland guards some respect. Rob what do you think?

  8. Man,I hate to say as much as I love X and his game,I have to agree.

  9. I agree....there's alot of kids not getting recognition just because they weren't dominating in the 6th grade. Rob it's time for some new blood. Your sleeping on alot of kids and I know what your response will be.."show up to the showcase". My son has made the all star team, but Its seems that the teams are made before the games start based of your rankings and their name.

  10. You're wrong; my response has never been "show up to the showcase!" My response has always been, "perform well consistently, perform well against the top talent, and perform well when people are watching." I write about, evaluate and rank kids based on what I see with my own 2 eyes primarily, coupled with what other people whom I trust and respect see and say. If a kid is playing at the right places and playing well consistently, in most cases, they will get the recognition they deserve. If a player is dominating local kids; playing on a second tier team, and is avoiding places where the top kids are playing and where evaluators are located, then it stands to reason they will be missed until later down the road. I ask coaches all over the state their opinions about who they see week in and week out on the circuit, and I use that information to find kids.

Quite often, parents and coaches shelter their kids and teams from the top competition for fear of being exposed individually, as a coach or as a team. Also, there are parents and coaches out there who "don't believe in" early exposure, AAU, camps, showcases and traditional avenues of exposure. That's ok for them to take that approach, but they can't then turn around and claim their kids are being missed. If I see a parent with kid who does not seek out the best competition, I have little tolerance for their complaints! Moreover, some parents and coaches get an attitude about a person or program and elect to use their child as a way of retaliating against the person or program. That's ok as well, but don't turn around and complain. At the end of the day, ballers ball, and others complain and make excuses.

In closing, I don't over sell my showcases, and I don't suggest that ranking and exposure will be withheld if a kid does not attend. All I know, 380 of the top players in the region will be in Columbus in September competing at the highest level, gaining skill development, competition, exposure and forming new and long term relationships with other kids around the state. What I do say to parents and coaches; take a look at the showcase rosters I posted for the showcase and the many top kids who will be competing there. If your kid/player is not there, I would really prefer not to hear the complaining! Sorry for the triad, but every now and then I need to get things off my chest!!

  12. Whoever this is taking low blow shots at MY SON, quit hiding behind this msg board & be a MAN & put your name on top of how u feel. I am Quincey "Coach Q" Simpson. I kindve gotta real good idea on who U are. There were only a few ppl at my event in Lima. So when I see U I will be approaching u as to what issue's u have w/MY son. If U feel that way, cool. But you've already mentioned X on other subjects, now this....AGAIN. So yeah be a man (if u are and put a name w/how u feel). I don't hide X from competition. We hit as many BIG events as we can. And from me to U, I don't care where X is "ranked." As long as he can get to college for FREE I'm fine w/that. And he's on that path. See besides hoops, I teach him the game of LIFE & if hoops don't work, his superb grades will get him anywhere he wants to go in LIFE. Grow up & leave my son name out cha mouth before it gets real personal bruh. I ain't never spoke a bad word about a kid & I'm seeing u continually do it to mines. All u ever talk about is KEITH KEITH KEITH....I love Keith's game but there are other kids that got work too. X is one, Rodrick is another...I could go on & on. Do u know how many colleges give FULL rides? If u know then you'd know there's enough for them ALL to have a chance. So quit thinking so small & understand they ALL can eat!!!!

  13. Yeah Rob this dude seems to be jealous of X or something. Probably same dude that was trying to get Keith on my AAU team for Nationals. I guess since Keith & the Tillman kid are the top PGs in the Cleveland area they want ALL the praise. NEWSFLASH BRUH: take them outta state, far away & see how they perform. And I KNOW Keith can hold his own but if he's not there who will see him? NOBODY!!! X & Rodrick went to the John Lucas Camp in Houston, TX and HELD THEIR OWN. X & Rodrick went to the Jr. All America Camp in ATL and HELD THEIR OWN. I could go on & on. But it's obvious U don't think outside Ohio. I didn't say X went & was the best. Nah, he went, competed & HELD HIS OWN. X needs to improve his outside shooting. But besides that, what more could u want in a PG? There aren't many Westbrooks out there, so if u gotta PG who thinks "shoot first" he's in TROUBLE. Mines runs a team, locks up on D, is coachable & a floor leader. After that he'll worry about his scoring. Now be real & tell us all what's the problem u have w/that?

  14. Everybody loves the praise but don't you dare criticize, thin skins don't go far here, either read it all or don't read anything, I used to laugh at pro athletes who say they don't read the paper, now I believe them and understand why

  15. I agree...You can't get all worked up saying when I see you bruh it's on. Cmon Quincy!! Just because somebody doesn't like your son's game. Really! Then it's aww put your name up here and say who you are. If Lebron went and faught everybody who said he is overrated, selfish etc he would be serving 20-30 years in prison. Get a grip man damn. Rob was that well said too? Can't believe you condone that foolishness on your website! At the end of the day I TEACH my son to be the bigger person. Maybe you guys should consider it as well.

  16. I re-read Q's post and I thought he made several real good points. As for condoning violence, I did not interpret his comments in that way. Like Q, I never know who I'm communicating with when I respond to posts, unlike the person/people that respond to me. I’ve said on a number of occasions; this website is designed to be a positive force for these kids and their aspirations! I don't want people to come on here with specific criticisms of kids, especially kids, parents and AAU coaches! If I’m not criticizing kids on this website, I don’t expect anyone else to either. You can't imaging how it feels until the negative comments are directed at your child. On this website, I would prefer that people leave the negative evaluations to those with a legitimate purpose and a healthy agenda. I should have deleted that junk earlier but I was slipping. I’ts not going down like that here, and I’m sorry if that upsets some people!!

  17. Coach Q and Rob:

    Agree 100% with your points!

Q - THANK YOU for making education important to your son. It will have the potential to pay far greater dividends (financially and otherwise) than anything basketball alone could. Also, you are spot on when saying there is more than enough to go around to all of the players that work on their game. Best of luck to you and your son!

Rob - You have a long, public track record of supporting the kids that play ball in Ohio and providing positive press for them. Most are very thankful to you for that however some, as you are aware, will always criticize, second guess and cannot help but to be negative. My experience tells me that these people are never fun to be around and tend to suck the positive energy out of those around them. Let them wallow in their self pity and you keep doing what you do!

  20. You are 100% correct. But I wanted a name w/a quote so we can all debate whatever. Why hide behind a name? And I NEVER said it was a physical altercation, not at all. I just wanted to know what "their" issue was with X only for the cause same person has been on here on different subjects, as well as, the All OH msg board discussing X. But never a fight w/me. But as a man AND father I tend to get a lil upset when the same person keeps taking shots at X for the wrong reason. But u right, that was totally outta character 4 me. I'm in the gym w/X & Smoke (my oldest son) trying to improve their game. I know & understand U can't please everyone. Be safe...

  21. I normally stay off forums, but I felt a need to offer my 2 cents(as if it matters!). Who is the better player, it's too early in the game. I havent seen all of the players in c/o 2016, but Ive seen my share nationally, since they were in the 2nd grade. X is a player. X & Team Lima had a great season this year. He not the most athletic player, but he is player with great character & LEADERSHIP skills. (Coaches know that this not a trait often found in our young people.) Is he always the most gifted on the floor during a game (no). Can I win with him leading my team (definite YES). He makes the players around him better. And at the end of the day, as a coach, what more can you ask for from your PG. Everybody keep working on your game. Who's #1 only counts on NBA Draft Night!!!

  23. I'm just now hearing about Tillman the past few years, how do we know if he's even Ohio native.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Coach Q I agree with you,but we really can't take anything away from X,Caldwell,Griffin,or Tillman.I do believe they're the top guards in the state HANDS DOWN.They're all extremely poised, but they all have something different.X is an incredible leader at such a young age and has a very high IQ.Caldwell is the same as X when it comes to poise leading and understanding, but he's also a great scorer.Griffin has the uncanny ability to light up scoreboards and score at will, but Griffin can still run a team. Then you have Tillman who is mad smooth and most people aren't used to seeing a kid his age control tempo the way he does. They're all gifted and can go D1.These guys are 4 of the top point guards in the nation to be serious.
