Trevell Beck 6'5 WF Cleveland |
In terms of my updated list, as most people know, I originally posted a top player list for this class over one year ago, and since that time, the list has continued grow. In addition, and a few kids have developed to the point where they have separated themselves from the pack. This list will continue to evolve, as players continue to develop and are seen at various events. As I did with my initial list, I have divided the state into 3 sections, Southern, Central and Northern Ohio. Also, the names are listed alphabetically, with no numerical ranking given at this point. However, within the next day or so, I will be posting a smaller list of the top 30 players in the class. To see the list, click on the link below. As I always say, let the debate begin!!
Top 150 Rising Eighth Graders
Check out the highlight video of some of Ohio's top players at Buckeye Prep's Fall Elite Showcase last September.

Eric Fritz must have grown 5 inches while this post was being written. He's listed as 5'11 AND 6'4. He's 5'11. No way is he 6'4.
ReplyDeleteOr may it is simply a typo that can be easily fix??
ReplyDeleteHow come no highlight video from the most recent showcase in March of this year
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question! Ty Kish was there and filmed all day. The last time I talked to him he was going to try and crank something out. The simple anwser, he has really blown up nationally and has not had time to put something together. I will stay on him.
ReplyDeleteThere alot of seven graders who are not mention on the list and there are some on that list that shouldn't be on it.
ReplyDeleteTrey Landers - West Carrollton
ReplyDeleteDalton Butler - Carlisle
Joby Williams - Preble Shawnee
Trey Smith - Preble Shawnee
Zach Friend - Madison
Eethan Edwards - Middletown
I have another elite showcase scheduled for Sept 25th. If there are players who feel they should be on a list like this, they have an opportunity to play their way on. I know that many smaller teams from more rural areas don't always have a chance to be seen at the bigger AAU events, so showcases and camps represent another way to gain exposure, if exposure is important to you. If not, that's ok, but understand that some kids have more opportunities to shine, and have better situations in which to gain exposure.RT
ReplyDeleteTrey Landers goes to Huber Heights schools now, no longer in West Carrolton District!!!!!
ReplyDeleteChristian Oakley is 2015 not 2016 and is 5'8-5'9 now.
ReplyDeleteI have seen many of the kids on the list, and I respect what Rob Taylor is trying to do. For the most part he has the kids on who should be on. If anything at all there should probably only be 30-50 legitimate players on there. He has been to nice to some of the seventh graders and 6th graders to boot. As anonymous posted earlier as to other kids that should be added, I have seen all of those kids and none of them belong on this list. Like I said this should be the Best of the Best!!!! The top 30 list honestly is prob. most of the kids that should be recognized on a list like this. Sorry everyone should not get an honor like this and nor should everyone expect it. Rob's disclaimer is very true about this list not guaranteeing anything. Thank You Rob for trying to put Ohio basketball on the map, and a lot of you should be thankful your child even made a list like this!!! If one were honest there would only be a top 30 list!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you make the showcase all-star team in March, but not the top 150? hahahaha!
ReplyDeletehey I there's two boys at The Wellington School named Cameron Edmondson and Lorenze Gordon-Haynes...you should check them out
ReplyDelete-Lorenze plays aau for Ohio PlayMakerz
-Cameron plays aau for Team Evolution
If your son made an all-star team at one of my showcases, he should automatically be in the top 150. It would have been an oversight on my part; it happens. A simple text or phone call would have been the healthy approach to the issue, rather than another one of these negative message board attacks. RT.
ReplyDeleteIf there are players who believe they deserve a spot on the list, I have a Sept 25th showcase scheduled. It's an opportunity to play against some of the kids on the list, and to get some exposure. Also, any player listed in the top 150 has an automatic invitation to the showcase, simply email for an invitation. RT.
ReplyDeleteEverybody wants there kid to be the next michael jordan or kobe bryant but at the end of the day it's all about academics. And do you think a college coach will talk to you absolutely no.So i say to all basketball players you are STUDENT ATHLETE.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, just because you recognize a child's athletic gifts and success (even if it is early), doesn’t mean you don't support academics or encourage the kids to be student athletes! Every time something positive is put out about our kids, the same people and the same old arguments are put out there. These kids are working hard and participating in a sport they love. Some will go on to have great high school careers, play college ball (free education) and maybe beyond. It starts early, takes a lot of dedication, and any success they have should be celebrated. It would seem, some people would rather read about a kid’s arrest or school suspension than read about a group of kids who have been recognized for their athletic excellence at an early age. As soon someone gives them credit for their work, the naysayers and boo birds flock to the message boards trying to steal their joy! Buckeye Prep is, has been, and will always be about the positive, and we can care less about what the few fear mongers feel about it!! RT
ReplyDeletecan anybody attend a showcase or do you have to meet a certain qualification
ReplyDeleteInstead of throwing dirt at the kids that are on the list, congratulate them for a job well done, and continue to encorage them, and tell your child try harder and maybe they can make the list one year. For those that are making suggestions on who shouldve been on the list how about you organize your own showcase, and put them on yours!!!
ReplyDeleteWe all know the way some of those all star teams were picked wasnt right, all about who u know!!
ReplyDeleteaustin dulaney who plays for the playmakerz 7th grade should be on that top 150 check him out.
ReplyDeletei agree austin dulaney is a beast check him out soon he should be in your buckeye prep elite showcase.
ReplyDeleteRob Taylor, thank you for putting the spot light on youth basketball in the state of Ohio. Great Job R.T.
ReplyDeleteAustin Dulaney is not a smart player. All he does is shoot, and turn the ball over. I saw him play at the Ohio Varsity Classic, and he almost lost the game for his team against College Bound. If it weren't for Lorenze Gordon-Haynes having the quick start in the first half and Andre Wesson and Corey Benton icing the game at the free throw line, they would've lost the game. Not saying Austin is a bad player, he just needs to have a better basketball IQ, and work on not turning the ball over.
ReplyDelete*the players you should be looking at Rob is Will Maynus(Heritage), Corey Benton(Genoa), Lorenze Gordon-Haynes(The Wellington School), and Andre Wesson(Walnut Springs)

ReplyDeleteI caught Tillman in the gym a few weeks ago and hes a dog.He was playing with some really big dudes and he was shaking things up,oh yea hes only like 13,but don't know what high he'll be attending
ReplyDeleteTillman and Griffin should be ranked in the top 5 on the 8th grade list.Griffin is 14 or 15, but the Tillman kid is really young and he's almost 6 feet.
ReplyDeleteOh yea,Griffin is nice.Tillman has better size for such a young guard.Tillman will be the best 9th grade point guard in Ohio next season.
ReplyDeleteI think Griffin is being is being recruited to play at Shaker nest season,he's improving real well.Griffin and Tillman will be taking some 10th or 11th grade bums point guard spots
ReplyDeleteI think i saw Tillman in the gym the other day.Is he ranked or what!
ReplyDeleteYes,Gicari Tillman and Keith Griffin are ranked top 5 8th or 9th graders
ReplyDeleteTerrence Johnson..... Is He From Dayton ?
ReplyDeleteTrevell beck lives 3 houses from me.. Lil dude got so much potential, but I'm afraid these streets may get the best of him
ReplyDeleteTerrence Johnson IS From Trotwood (Dayton) . Very Good Potential .
ReplyDeleteTrevelle Beck has all the potential in the world.....not only that his little brothers (twins)are starting to develop into very good basketball p,ayers as well..... There is 6 of em actually all 12 year olds who are already doing pro dribbling skills and shooting between 500-1000 jumpers a day (no exaggeration) ... But Please encourage Nu-Nu (Trevelle Beck) when you see him at your camps because as someone stated above he is poised to turn to the streets....I grew up and still live in the same neighborhood that he lives and it is notorious for murders, cop killings, prostitution, gang violence, robberies, and drug deals.....
ReplyDeleteBeck does have great potential,he and the Tillman kid may blow up nationally. There two of the best players in Ohio.
ReplyDeleteAn under the radar guy is a guard out of brush from the 2014 class cassius conner great range on jumpshot and a all around scorer with tremendous upside on the defensive side of the ball
