how did that HUGE 7th grader, Fischer(i think), not make the team? he appeared to dominate the floor when he was on it. he moved very well for a kid that size and tried to handle the ball some
ReplyDeleteI like Fischer a lot! However, I did not get a chance to see him play, and as the event director, the coaches made the decision. I think Fischer has a bright future despite the fact he was ranked 4th on his team, one spot below what was needed to make the All-star team. Tell "Sticks" to keep working hard on his game; I think there are a lot of AS teams in his future!
ReplyDeleteWhat happen to the 7th grader Jamelle Curtis from Dayton, Ohio? I believe I heard people call him "MoBit". This was the smallest guy that had "gritty D", couple of steals, couple of three's, and even dropped off a couple of assist. He really deserved to get some recognition due to his play being very consistent. I was watching this dude and was like man he is small but play much bigger. I am just shocked that this guy didn't get to show himself in the All-Star game. Very exciting player.
ReplyDeleteIn addition there was another kid in the 7th grade with the last name Seals (#35)that hit a couple deep three's and some mid-range shots, along with good defense. He didn't have a lot of flash but you can tell this kid is a ball player. I heard they are with the Spiece Dayton Airmen. I just want to comment of those two guys because I saw them play last year and was impressed. They were on the same team but didn't play together (that would of been nice to see!). Oh yeah, that Seals kid hit a game winning three. You can tell he is a dangerous guy on the perimeter. He also took the baseline real nice off the dribble and finished among the tree's.
I notice Dayton 7th grade had some good guard play. There were at least four guys in the all-star game I liked. Noah,Caleb, AJ, and Josh seem to be good guards. Therefore, I wanted to comment on this because I see something in Dayton. I haven't heard of these guys but they put on a nice show. I hope these guys play in your tournament! Please if possible let there coaches or parents know someone recognized their efforts. The thing that stood out was they were poised, handled pressure, had IQ, and didn't mind sharing the ball. When I watch these guys you can tell they are exposed to some good coaching.
I actually asked about these guys and that is how I found out that they were from Dayton and what teams they play for. I'm not a Dayton native but I see a style of play that obviously stood out to me. Are these guys ranked or have any exposure?
Is it posible to create a way to rank these unmentioned guys because they truly can play. I wonder if any of these guys will go to Dunbar, Thurgood, Alter, or Wayne down there.
Thank you Mr. Anonymous. I actually help coach a couple of those guys you mentioned. It really make me feel good that their game was well spoken of. We take pride in developing our young men in this game. Jamelle "MoBit" Curtis (honorable mentioned), Gerald Seals, Josh Bryant (7th grade all-star team), and Caleb Harris (7th grade all-star team) all had a good showing. I hope they can get recognized as complete players because that what we do as "Airmen". Rob we really appreciate what you are doing for these younger guys coming up. It really instills hope for them. I would like to add that kid from Bowling Green number 40 was a real nice point guard! Also, team lima guys look good as well. You can tell those guys are being taught the game. I agree with mr. anonymous that there need to be a way to rank these unmentioned guys. My suggestion is to do a Buckeye Prep Camp like the showcase so skills can be evaluated. Everyone wins with that approach too!
ReplyDeleteI think Aj is and was one of the best players their and one of the best in his class
ReplyDeletehow did you feel tyler Dunlap #110 from Lima, ohio performed he made all star he was very unselfish all day making passes even when there was a sure 2pts in front of him?
ReplyDeleteTyler looked very poised. I watch one other game he was in. He performed well in that game too. One thing that stood out was that he knows how to set other guys up and find his own offense. That might not get a lot of buzz but the next level looks for that. To me that speak volume when someone understand how to add value to other people. In addition, he knows how to play off the ball. So from my perspective I like his game, keep working with him. Let him know though that he have to score too. Unfortunately, his type of game doesn't get it proper recognition.
ReplyDeleteAustin Marciniak is a strong team player to be recognized. I have watched this young man play on various teams throughout the years and he is an
ReplyDeleteALLSTAR!!!! Kudos to Austin Marciniak and his team! Watch for this young man in the near future!
As I watched the best kid in 7th grade was clearly that Josh Williams kid. I heard some call him area code 202. I believe 202 was his jersey number. His all around play was great. He shot the ball well, and passed the ball well. He displayed a natural ability to take over a game any time he want to. The future is Bright for that young man. I will be watching for his name in the days, months, and years to come.

Pay attention to a pair of 7th grade twins out of the Lake Schools. They excel no matter the competition. Bright futures for both if coached well.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see them at my September 12th elite showcase! If they are up to to the challege, and want to compete agaist the best, email me at Taylorobe@aol.com for an invitation.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for Jae'Von McClain a eighth grader from Aurora Ohio. This Kid can flat out play the game. His defense is outstanding and he can get to the rack at anytime and he is a very unselfish ball player.
