In conjunction with the NYBL Finals scheduled for May 31st-June 2nd here in Columbus, Buckeye Prep will be hosting the first-ever Summer Showdown. With the recent release of the state middle school rankings, there has been a lot if debate about where teams are ranked. The Summer Showdown will answer those questions, as the top middle school teams will be invited to a round robin format which will match-up the state’s top middle school teams. No excuses! If you want to be considered the best, come play the best. Details will be forthcoming, but save the dates!
THTS WHT I'M TALKING ABOUT ROB PUT UP OR SHUT UP
ReplyDeleteThis is coach Jackson Murphy AC will be there! who else is in?
ReplyDeleteThe OhioHoopsters will be there also lets go
ReplyDeleteI wish that AOR 6th grade team was not playing in the NYBL that weekend.I heard that AOR 6th grade team dominated a scrimmage games early in the year against Excel 7th grade and Ohio Hoopsters 7th grade. Can we please get some details about this scrimmage,if it took places? The head coach for Team Excel 7th and Ohio Hoopsters 7th grade teams both of you guys play them or they as good as everybody is making them?
DeleteI was at the scrimmage you are referring to and I can assure you that Excel was not beaten by the 6th grade AOR team. The truth is the first quarter the AOR team was beaten by over 20 points and the coaches took them out in the hallway and lit into them like there was no tomorrow. The rest of the quarters were competitive. The same goes for the Hoopsters who won every quarter that I saw.
Deleteand what drugs are you on bc you definitely wasn't there or under the influence to make this statement, only part that is true that AOR assts took them into hallway after that they only lost one qtr and that was to excel
DeleteNo they did not dominate either team they could not beat either of these teams today or any other day there good but not on that level. Yes the scrimmage did happen and it was good for all three teams but for someone to say that aor 6th grade dominate was a lie
ReplyDeleteFactually speaking! This is Coach Nigel(AOR 6th Asst.) We won 5 out of 8 qtrs! Lost the first 2 back to back! (One to each)! We beat hoopsters 3 times and Excel twice!
DeleteIf you must know they did not beat hoopsters 3 times and excel twice .I think aor 6th graders are good but they can't handle either team in a full game and a scrimmage is just that a scrimmage
ReplyDeleteNope, know ur wrong, AOR 6th did beat the Hoopsters and Excel, whether it was a scrimmage, real game, pick up game..... whatever you prefer to call it, AOR beat both 7th grade teams. And that's not trying to rub it in, but whoever is saying that it didn't go down like that obviously wasn't there. AOR 6th is the best 6th and 7th grade team in the state, period! Those boys can flatout play basketball, no 7th grade team in Ohio can deal with those guys!
ReplyDeleteAOR Just play up 7th grade and settle it very sure Jerry Watson would love to see what type of team he really has. I remember him doing it before in tournaments it can only make them better everyone knows you gets nothing from a scrimmage play ball.
DeleteDid Excel or the Hoopsters with the Capital City Hoopfest this past weekend?
ReplyDelete*win
DeleteExcel won
DeleteCome on now that 6th grade team is not the best team in Ohio they might be in the 6th grade but not the 7th grade everyone has there own opinion but I think the hoopsters and excel is to strong right now for them now that the hoopsters got there right players n place and excel will shoot them out the gym gave respect where its due .
ReplyDeleteOne question if AOR 6th grade team is quote unquote the best 6 and 7th grade team, why aren't their playing up at King James this weekend?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous you sound crazy why don't everybody play up. I know one thing AOR 6th grade team will win the King James 6th grade gold divisioni.Who will win the 7th grade gold division? Not a team from Ohio will places in King James 7th grade division.Have you saw the AAU power rankes for the class of 2018 everybody from Ohio play DIVISION 2.AOR 6th grade team have NOT HAD A CLOSE GAME YET.I'm very sorry coach Demarco, for putting alot of pressure on you to not lose a game this year.TOO ALL 7th grade teams in Ohio, win a tournament outside of OHIO.AOR 6th has won 3,so far and BEAT THE defend NATIONAL CHAMPS in there class TWICES ALREADY.What have Ohio Hoopsters, QCP,Murphy Ac,Excel, and OBC done? Kevin from Cincinnati
DeleteWhat AOR team is doing is nothing new they have been winning championships from day 1 before the merge they already won 2 at King James with coach Francis only thing Coach Bradley did was jump on the banwagon he knew this was the only way to make him look good AOR is still the same team to me they still winning. This is new to him so great move on his part. But their not the best 7th grade team in Ohio.
DeleteI think this debate has run its course! Let's move on. I know it's too much to ask that Ohio-based teams support each other and to take pride in the accomplishment of these young people, but some of the comments on this site are starting to be ridiculous. Regardless of what you think, AOR’s 6th grade team is very talented, and from what I know, is playing with legal players. They are the best 6th grade team in Ohio, and arguably the country. Next week’s NYBL session #2 will go a long way in determining just how good they are. The can also play with and beat most 7th grade teams. With that said, AOR fans could deflect some of the criticism by being a little bit more humble. We know they are good, but if their fans/supporters continue to come on the website and brag and boast, then they should expect the kind of comments they are receiving. I know Coach DeMarco has asked his parents to refrain from making comments, but SOMEBODY continues to fan the flames with these boastful comments. I continue to try and provide a healthy forum for the players so they have a platform to display their talent and to secure opportunities that will help them reach their goals, but despite my efforts, ADULTS, continue to use this site to advance their own negative agendas. I leaned a long time ago that this game is full of jealousy; envy and people who are bitter, but don’t use this website to spew your venom. Buckeye Prep is about the positive; keep that negative stuff to yourself! For you “freedom of speech” folks, exercise your rights somewhere else where it’s more appropriate and more accepted!!I will be deleting inappropriate comments from here on out.
ReplyDeleteThe talent in the 2018 class is spread among a bunch of mediocre teams AOR has the best 6th graders in ohio hands down. I wish Ohio could put together ONE decent national contender in that class to rep our state the right way.
ReplyDeleteTOO MANY EGO'S!,AND MISLEADING INFO that parents in this class follow as far as southwest Ohio that won't allow this to happen and be successful.
Deletewhy would you schedule this tournament the same weekend as the Division I AAU state tournament for 8th grade? Is it only for up to 7th grade? (you mentioned middle school teams)
ReplyDeleteIt's scheduled for that weekend because I'm hosting the NYBL finals that same weekend. I just added the tournament as a supplement to the NYBL. I understand the top 8th grade teams in southern Ohio will be at the AAU State tournament (I hate I will miss that!!), so I may only get teams from 7th grade down. If I don't get enough 8th grade teams(may get out of state teams) then we won't have that division. Next year It will be either a "stand alone" tournament or I will make sure to avoid that same conflict.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the address to the gym where the SummerShowdown is taking place this weekend?
ReplyDelete4185 E. Fifth Ave. Columbus (across from the airport).
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob. What's the name of the venue? I will gladly forward to the others.
