  1. The above rankings represent my initial attempt to establish who the top teams are in each of the 3 grade divisions in Ohio. Prior to developing the list, I talked to several of the top coaches in each division to secure their input. With my personal observations and the input from coaches, I developed the above lists. It's tough to be 100% accurate at this early stage in the season, because many of the teams have not matched up head to head. In addition, several team's rosters are fluid, as players are switching teams. Finally, some teams will simply get better over the season and over take more highly ranked teams. I published the list to give credit to the top teams and to begin the debate on a more formal basis. This is just for fun and is not intended as disrespect to any team. If you disagree with where team is ranked/not ranked, you can resolve the issue on the basketball court. Play and beat the teams ranked ahead of you and you will move up in the rankings. It always helps if your team competes and wins in the top tournaments against the top teams. Please feel free to email your results from week to week, or email with your comments, clarification or other input (Taylorobe@aol.com) Let the debate begin!!

    1. 7th Grade Cincy Elite has beaten Cincy Lakers not once, not twice, but three times. So based on your statement:
"Play and beat the teams ranked ahead of you and you will move up in the rankings"
Cincy Elite should move up in the rankings correct?

      Delete
    2. 7th grade Cincy Elite has some good players and is very well coached but clearly the Cincy Lakers are more talented. Coaching is the main reason why Cincy Elite is even in the top 5 of your list.

      Delete
    3. How is DB Hoops even ranked when they have a 16 yr old on a 8th grade team? That's against AAU rules and regulations.

      Delete
    4. Not only did Cicinnati Elite beat the Lakers, But by 15 in 2 of the 3 games.

      Delete
    5. 7th grade Cincinnati Elite shouldn't be in the top 5 we (MURPHY AC KNIGHTS) beat them handly up in Akron.

      Delete
    6. The Cincy Gators need to be a team knocking at the Door in the 8th grade rankings, they have beaten alot of good teams even tho its their first year. They beat the Hoopmaker,AOP, and the Lakers and this past weekend beat the 8th grade Dayton pilots by ten you guys really should take a look at them.

    7. None of dbhoops 14U Jackson players are 16. I heard that some maybe 15 and will turn 16 by the end of the year but what top teams can honestly say they don't have players that age or older?

      Delete
    8. Royals 13u which are ranked 10th beat Murphy AC Knights, shouldn't that move them up?

      Delete
    9. 7 grade Trio Elite should be there somewhere , look at thier record look how many tournaments they have won and how many they were runner ups

      Delete
  2. Lima has beaten 2,3,4,5,8, and 9 head to head and not lost to anyone in Ohio. Have not played 6,7, or 10 yet. Rankings look pretty close to me.

    1. Lima Who and what tournaments have they played in?

  3. Dayton Pilots are def up and coming. They lost to #6 by 2 over the weekend and they beat #9 a few weeks ago. Rankings look pretty accurate.

    2. Dayton pilots just beat Btc again in there own tournament by 3 so they should be rank at least #7

    1. by 1 point and we only had 7 players, missing 3 top players. Not to mention they only had one referee! But i will give you credit for the win :)

    2. When metro has all their kids they will beat btc 7 out of 10 times.

      Delete
    3. don't think so

      Delete
    4. Depends on which kids Metro has. They seem to add and subtract different players all the time. More than most teams I have seen. I seen them with argueably the best 6th grader in the Dayron area last weekend playing with them in the Metro tourney. He is not on Metro's team and they barely beat the Pilots in the Semi-finals and they won the tourney(Congrats). Nothing against the kids, as they can play but I wonder about the coach and the message that is being sent to the other kids and parents. I guess as long as they win, who cares, right?

      Delete
    5. He is on the Metro Team! The Metro team carries 12 kids on its roster.

  6. For 14U, Murphy AC has beat TNBA twice...Murphy AC definitely top 10

    1. Murphy AC Kalish 14U is not top 10!!! They don't play anyone or anywhere. Honestly, I believe Murphy AC Knights would beat Murphy AC Kalish

      Delete
    2. Murphy AC may not play a lot of tough tournaments but they have beat TNBA twice the #6 team and I think they beat SMAC Primetime. There is no way knights beat there team they r too tall.

  7. Chuck it don't matter we did not have all our players either but you do have a good team hope to see you down the road.

  8. 12u . I seen Ohio Tar heels this weekend. I wouldnt be suprised if they crack the top 10 by seasons end. Whats funny is that both the metro and tar heels had Spark kids on their teams this weekend. Sometimes that can skew tourney results

  10. SMAC U 12u boys beat murphy AC by 24 this past weekend in AAU super regional, they also beat Pickerington wildcats in 3ot. On top of that they beat the Dayton Pilots by 30ish down as the Bearcat Classic in Cincinnati.

    ReplyDelete
  11. SMAC U 12u was also the only team from Ohio to finish in the elite 8 of the the King James gold bracket. With wins over the King Street Kings (#12 in the country) and the Metro Sixers (NJ)

  16. Vcc warriors are the most overrated team in Ohio I have seen them lose multiple times in oyb tournaments. They just have some notable guys like Seth towns and Matt moyer. They got beat by mid ohiomagic twice by 15 and 12. . Why are they up in the top ten? This website is so untrue I can't even believe people are proud to be on it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This site is about exposure. No point in getting upset about rankings. There are plenty of teams not on this list that have beaten listed teams handily and repeatedly.

    ReplyDelete
  18. what happened to OBC middle school teams? i haven't seen them in none of the big tournaments in ohio. usually they would have a team in the rankings.

  20. DB Hoops Slifka and Martin (U13) could both be in the top 10 as well as the U15 Williams and Baum teams!

    ReplyDelete
  21. DB Hoops Martin 13U has beaten both Team Lima Kings and DB Hoops Slifka (twice). Lost to Next Level by 4pts and lost to Murphy Knights by 2pts this year. DB Hoops Martin definetly top 5

    2. True that lol. Bad game by DB Hoops Martin vs Next Level 2nd time, but DB Hoops Martin still top 5 in state. Would like to see Next Level vs Murphy AC Knights, that would be for top team in state (in my opinion). 7th grade has nice talent in Ohio

  24. There are three 14-u Dayton nets teams, 2 of them only play in oyb tourneys, the other has played at pretty much all the big tourneys, the team mid Ohio magic beat last week in the Dayton metro tourney was Dayton nets ( Wilcox)...the team I'm speaking of is Dayton nets (Parker) and yes they did play mid Ohio magic last yr , they have played the last three yrs

    ReplyDelete
  25. For the record, and this will be my final comment on this thread, your statement about Mid Ohio Magic beating the Dayton Nets (Wilcox) last week is correct. However, Mid Ohio Magic did not play the Dayton Nets (Parker) or an All Ohio Red (Parker) in 2011 or 2012. Mid Ohio Magic did play an All Ohio Parker team twice in 2010 winning by 20 once and losing by 10 once. In 2009, Mid Ohio Magic did lose to a Dayton Nets team by 2. Suffice it to say, I keep pretty good records.

  27. Ut oh, the Dayton Pilots 6th grade beat BTC #9 again this weekend, in BTC's own tournament, the 2nd time they matched up. 2-0 Pilots. I will be honest and say BTC has a great team and I agree they are exciting to watch. If you havent had a chance to check out the Pilots, they have a good team and very well balanced. I believe the staring guards can play with any teams gurads I've seen this year.

    3. Yeah the game was a classic, nets were went up by as many as 8...bulldogs came back and went up by ten, nets came back and hit a 3 with 10 secs left to go down by one..the bulldogs broke the press and got a layup and the nets had to scramble to get a three attempt at the buzzer to tie the game but failed. Heck of a game to watch, wish the nets had their starting pg and center but nevertheless the bulldogs played a great gm, especially their big guy and #24 who was shooting from half court

    1. That BTC team is a very good team and today's game against the Pilots was very exciting. I am a Pilot parent and we knew going into the game is was going to be a exciting game that would go down to the wire. We knew we would have to try ro slow down #3. He is a great young guard and very difficult to contain. Tell him to keep his head up and keep working hard. I expect great things from him in the future. #3 from BTC and #1 from Buckeye Prep are two of the best point guards we seen all year. I'm sure there are many others. Good luck to all teams the rest of the way. Go Pilots!

  30. How sad is this?? One list of numbers come out and we have grown folks going nuts!! This is one persons opinion and also his business, give him a break! This shows what really hurts youth sports these days and how we lose focus on what is most important and that would be the KIDS! Not all, but most parent these days are just so ate up! Beat the Dayton Pilots top team both times they played (10&2). Lost to the Hoopsters both times (20&20). Lost to AC Murphy (20). Finished 4th at state. Seems like the Friars should be 4th or 5th!!

  36. This weekend in Cinci, were the worst calls ever by the refs toward out of town teams. The Landmark gym was over 100 degrees and 3 games in one day is a lot. They don't play 3 back to back games in college or the NBA. It was a bit much.
    very disappointed.

does anyone know the name of the tournament or the website for the tourny in Cinci this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The gyms were definitely too warm, both at Landmark and at Finneytown HS. The kids were just gassed midway through the day, which took away from the quality of the efforts late in the day.

There is a Kings Island Memorial Day tournament. I would search the web for that.

  40. Watch out for the talent in Michigan: The most exciting players in the state are Joshua Jackson, Cassisus Winston, and Billy Thomas. These are are the top players in Michigan and top 50 players in the country. Joshua Jackson's game is describe as primarily a post player. His jumpshot is on and off he will need to work on that. Cassius Winston can just flat out play e can score on command. He needs to work on his athletiscm. Billy Thomas can get his team involved and can score at anytime and anywhere on the court. Billy needs to work on his defense.

    1. You are definetly right I saw Billy Thomas play in Indiana about a month ago and he was averaging 25-30 points a game. Billy Thomas class of 2016 is definetly a top 50 prospect in his class.
