Ohio's Top Rising Freshmen (2015)

MaCio Teague

Below is a list of Ohio's top rising freshmen (2015).  As I have said before, if you are a youth basketball fan in this state and you have followed this class over the years, you already kind of know who many of the top players are in this class.  Although I have formalized the process by documenting the names on this site, you, the fan, have your own ideas about who the best players are at this point.  I'm not going to go into preach mode with this piece, I have said all I need to say.

My list of the top guys is based on most of my own observations over the past couple of years, as well as input I received from many of the top coaches in this class, and a few fans who I trust to give me credible and unbiased input (it's so hard to find!).  Like the others, this list will continue to evolve over time and will be updated periodically.  Over the next several months, I will be further defining the lists and assigning numbers (1-30) to the players on the lists.  Also, I will soon be developing a "Next 20" list so that I can submit a top 50 list to John Stovall, (ESPN analyst, Nike rep and Prep Spotlight co-founder) to serve as a foundation for his initial top 50 freshman list in the fall.

Finally, as I have done with the others, I have posted all 3 top player lists on the side bar on the front page of this website, where I will make periodic changes (additions & subtractions), as we proceed through the summer and fall. I know this list will cause some debate, but that's ok, as players will be added as they shine on the bigger stages. Enough said; enjoy/debate the list!!

  3. Very disappointed in this list. 3 are on here cause of size talent is down right terrible. If you are 6'5 and can't post up ( tony anderson) 6'5 and can't run ( kevin fisher) how can you make top anything. Not even best players on there teams. So can't be best in state. Kid from who got game is ok. But NOT TOP 30. But as stated this listing will change seems mandatory to go to showcase to get noticed. Cause out playing these players on this list in a Aau game setting doesn't do anything.

  5. There are many young men that could have, and maybe some that should have made the list (My son Cord'e included). I only know a handful of these players, however, those that I do know, go hard a consistant basis (even if they have a bad a game). To many coaches, fathers, and mothers concentrate more on skills than on aspects such as conditioning, muscle memory, how to attack the rim, and what target to aim for when shooting a shot. It may not be our child's time. If they're truly dedicated, devoted, and have a desire to be the best, they will make this and more prominent list. Maybe this will serve as motivation...One!

  7. When commenting, you should really refrain from putting down the kids. They didn't put themselves on the list, and you wouldn't appreciate someone mentioning your kid in a negative comment. Just remember what goes around comes around. And no, it's not my child you are criticizing. But they are still kids! If you can't say something nice....!!!!!

  11. Oakley is one of the smoothest kids in the state. I only disagree with maybe 5 kids being on the list. Have seen a couple kids on list lose in one-on-one to other kids in bottom of 100. Rob I'd like to see you change the format of your Fall event to 3-on-3 half court games or add a event. One person can't dominate ball. We get to see better one-on-one matchups. One PG, one F, and one C. Only top 50 kids invited.

  27. Devin Smith from Garfield heights should be on here he is a hard working 5'9 PG/SG that can shoot people lights out he can also pass and dish it to his team-mates to make them better and he has great ball handling. He should be in the top 25 or maybe even 15 if he keeps up his hard work on the court and off.

    1. Yes indeed i saw him play at the Euclid Sports plant last week and he did what he had to do for his team , he needs to play for a big AAU team so he can get ranked up in the country because if he put in effort i highly think he can do it.
